George Sr. is struggling financially after losing his head coaching job. He takes a side gig driving a garbage truck for a local Waste Management Association (WMA) contractor. He hides this from Mary, fearing she’ll see it as a step down. The work is grueling, smelly, and humbling, but pays better than expected. His secret is eventually revealed when Mary finds his work boots caked in trash residue. Instead of being ashamed, she admires his willingness to do anything for the family.
