A figure in a black trench coat and a bird-like mask descended from the scaffolding above—a ghoul from the 20th Ward, a “Guardian” who had been tracking Rize, the “Binge Eater” who killed for sport in other territories. He landed silently, his own kagune—a hard, crystalline ukaku type—flickering on his shoulder. He looked at Kaneki, then at the dying Rize.

He raised a hand to finish the job. But as he moved, a siren wailed in the distance. Police. The CCG. The masked ghoul hesitated. Killing the boy would take time, and the steel trap wouldn’t hold Rize for long, even as she died.
