Meera enters. She is still in her heavy bridal lehenga, but her face is tired from the ghoonghat (veil). She looks shy, avoiding Aarav’s eyes. She walks to the far side of the bed and sits. There is a three-foot gap between them. The silence is loud, but not cold—it’s heavy with expectation.
He lets go of her hand. He moves to the window where the rain has started. He opens it. The cool air rushes in. Aarav: “Everyone told me what I was supposed to do tonight. But they didn’t tell me how to ask you if you’re scared.” Meera looks up, surprised. She walks to the window, standing next to him. Meera: “I am.” Aarav: “So am I.” He takes the dupatta from his shoulder and drapes it over both their shoulders like a shared blanket. They stand side-by-side, watching the rain, not touching except for the fabric connecting them. suhagrat video
