A washing machine that won’t drain is a laundry room nightmare. Before you call an expensive plumber, the most common culprit is a clog deep inside the standpipe—usually caused by lint, soap scum, or tiny fabric fibers. The most effective DIY solution is using a drain snake (also known as a plumbing auger).
