✅ – sharp even by today's standards. ✅ Dynamic weather themes – from soft hazy mornings to violent supercells. ✅ Water & sky color customization – no two flights looked the same. ✅ Lightning & lens flare effects – ahead of its time.
Sure, it doesn't support volumetric clouds or real-time raymarching, but for FSX/ESP-based sims, FEX is still the gold standard for atmosphere enhancement.
Anyone else still keeping FSX/P3D alive with FEX? Or have you fully migrated to modern sims?
It's easy to forget how big of a leap FEX was back in the day. While most of the simming world has moved on to MSFS 2020/2024 or X-Plane 12, firing up FEX again reminds me of what made it special:
