The search bar autofilled. Millions of results. Leo cracked his knuckles. This wasn’t his first rodeo. He knew that “free” on YouTube usually meant one of three things: a public domain horror film from 1931 where the monster looked like his uncle after a nap, a low-budget indie so obtuse it made experimental French cinema look like Fast & Furious , or a movie that was free for exactly 47 seconds before the uploader’s account was terminated.
Leo pocketed his phone. He walked home. He did not open YouTube for the rest of the weekend. On Monday morning, he opened a blank document instead.
